Wanderlust and proudly married to my beautiful wife Hailey, we both are originally from Joplin, Missouri. I attended undergrad at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri where I dabbled in political science, architecture, history, and a myriad of student activities. Afterwards, I found myself attending law school at Saint Louis University where I spent three years exploring the wonderful and rich urban fabric of the 'westernmost eastern city'. Following law school I practiced law for three years back home in Joplin, first working on municipal and insurance cases, followed by a fellowship assisting victims of the May 22, 2011 tornado with storm-related legal troubles.
In 2014 I shifted course, and after moving to the Kansas City area, started in the Masters of Urban Planning program at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Between courses I have worked at a small, non-profit housing development organization, worked as a student research assistant at KU, assisted teaching an introduction to sustainability course, and served as a planning intern for the City of Parkville, Missouri. Currently I am interning in the planning department of the City of Kansas City, Kansas where I research and write new ordinances, conduct reviews and draft staff reports, and assist with applications, GIS, and permits.
We travel as much as possible, and I enjoy fiddling with my camera. Upon graduation in May 2016 we hope to pack up and move west!
