Wanderlust and proudly married to my beautiful wife Hailey, we both are originally from Joplin, Missouri. I attended undergrad at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri where I dabbled in political science, architecture, history, and a myriad of student activities. Afterwards, I found myself attending law school at Saint Louis University where I spent three years exploring the wonderful and rich urban fabric of the 'westernmost eastern city'. Following law school I practiced law for three years back home in Joplin, first working on municipal and insurance cases, followed by a fellowship assisting victims of the May 22, 2011 tornado with storm-related legal troubles.
In 2014 I shifted course, and after moving to the Kansas City area, started in the Masters of Urban Planning program at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I've worked at a small, non-profit housing development organization, worked as a student research assistant at KU, assisted teaching an introduction to sustainability course, served as a planning intern for the City of Parkville, Missouri, and interned in the planning department of the City of Kansas City, Kansas where I researched and wrote new ordinances, conducted reviews and drafted staff reports, and assisted with applications, GIS, and permits. I graduated with my Masters in May 2016.
We picked up and moved to Sonoma County, California where I am Planner for the City of Rohnert Park. My duties include reviewing new developments, writing ordinances, working on long range planning projects, managing city real estate transactions, and assisting with economic development initiatives.
We travel as much as possible, camping under the stars, and I enjoy fiddling with my camera. My interests include history, space technology, EVs, and driverless cars.
